Director of Sericulture Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Kokrajhar

Director's Message -

Erstwhile Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was known as only Kokrajhar district of Assam. Before creation of Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts (BTAD), the existence of Department of Sericulture was hardly known to the people. Sericulture was considered as poor man’s occupation. Although Sericulture is being practised in BTC since time immemorial, however, the industry lagged behind in terms of production, productivity per unit area due to lack infrastructure, skilled manpower and technical awareness. The financial support from Government sector was also not up to the desired level resulted in economic assistance for growth of the Silk industry in BTAD was very limited.
